Breuss Massage

At the Algos Centre, we believe in an integrative approach to pain management that includes both conventional and complementary therapies. One such therapy is Breuss Massage, a gentle, non-invasive massage technique that can help relieve pain and promote deep relaxation.

Developed by the Austrian naturopath Rudolf Breuss, Breuss massage is an energetic massage that aims to release muscular tension and promote the regeneration of under-nourished intervertebral discs. It is often used in conjunction with the Dorn Method, a manual therapy designed to correct spinal misalignments.

During a Breuss massage, the person lies on their stomach and the therapist makes gentle movements using vegetable oil as a support. This releases muscular tension in the neck, back and pelvic area, while promoting relaxation and balancing the body's energy flow.

Breuss massage is particularly effective for people suffering from chronic pain, especially back pain, caused by muscular imbalances or blockages in the spinal joints. It is also beneficial for people suffering from rheumatic conditions such as fibromyalgia and ankylosing spondylitis.

As well as relieving pain, Breuss massage can also contribute to emotional well-being by activating the parasympathetic system, which causes the body to relax completely. By addressing physical and energetic imbalances, it can help release emotional blockages and promote a sense of deep relaxation and inner peace.
